WDCAC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Recognizing educational achievement and encouraging the contribution of academic pursuits is one of the primary objectives of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.  The Washington DC Alumnae Chapter’s (WDCAC) annual scholarship program recognizes graduating high school students from Washington , D.C. and prior WDCAC scholarship recipients who display academic excellence, community service, leadership skills, and/or financial need, and who choose to attend an institution of higher learning.  
The Scholarship Committee administers the scholarship program for the WDCAC, which includes implementing and distributing applications to public, private, charter, and parochial high school seniors in Washington D.C.; as well as, recommending students for the chapter’s scholarships.
During our Public Meeting in May 2013 we awarded new and continuing scholarships ranging from $500 to $3,000.  We also awarded four trunk scholarships which consisted of items such as towels, sheets, iron, alarm clock, and toiletry items that students will need when they begin college.
The WDCAC offers the following scholarships:

 Δ   2014 Scholarship Application ~  Students who attend a Washington, D.C. public, private, charter, or parochial high school and are seniors graduating in 2014.


Scholarship winners will be notified in April and will be presented their award at our Public Meeting held in May.

Check out this FREE opportunity to interact with other students from
Virginia who are interested in the excitement of Science, Technology,
Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)!
BLAST will offer a dynamic three-day residential summer experience on the
campus of Virginia
Tech
(VT) and the University of Virginia (UVA) in the summer of
2014. Through innovative hands-on experiences taught by faculty members and
staff, students will explore the fun and excitement of STEM while residing on a
college campus.  BLAST is geared to students who may have an interest in STEM or
an underlying aptitude for STEM academics, but have not yet discovered the
excitement of STEM.
Current 8th and 9th grade students from Virginia will have an opportunity
to choose from one of two sessions at Virginia Tech, July 13-16 or July 20-23,
or one session at the University of Virginia, July 27-30. 

BLAST is a partnership between the Virginia Space Grant Consortium (VSGC), Virginia
Tech, the University of Virginia and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

White House Internship Due: January 5th

Emerging future leaders are encouraged to apply for the White House Internship Program for a unique opportunity to gain valuable professional experience and build leadership skills. This hands-on program is designed to mentor and cultivate today's young leaders, strengthen their understanding of the Executive Office and prepare them for future public service opportunities.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, 18 years of age on or before the first day of the internship, and meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a college, community college, or university (two-to-four year institution)
  • Graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program at a college, community college, or university (two-to-four year institution) no more than two years before the first day of the internship
  • A veteran of the United States Armed Forces who possesses a high school diploma or its equivalent and has served on active duty, for any length of time, in the two years preceding the first day of the internship
The White House Internship Program's mission is to make the "People's House" accessible to future leaders from around the nation. The application for the Summer 2014 White House Internship Program is now open. The application deadline is Sunday, January 5, 2014.
